Star Parties at Longway Planetarium
Star parties are events held at Longway Planetarium and are a great way to check out the Moon and Saturn in more detail than you’ve ever seen before! These events are part of the International Year of Astronomy. Telescope set up begins at 8pm. The public is welcome to bring their telescopes. Our telescopes will be set up on the south and west sides of the planetarium. Great for young and old. In the event of clouds or other inclement weather, a star show will be shown under the dome. Each party is until 11:00pm.
In 2009, the International Year of Astronomy, a global effort initiated by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), will encourage the citizens of the world to "rediscover their place in the Universe through the day- and night-time sky, thereby engaging in a personal sense of wonder and discovery".
